With summer rapidly approaching, now is the time to shed those winter pounds to get beach-ready.  Fad diets abound but most experts will tell you that the secret to successful weight loss is a healthy diet and exercise plan.  In fact, most successful long-term weight loss sticks when the weight loss is an average of 3 pounds per week.

Strength training – The benefits of regular strength training include an increase in your bone mineral density by putting enough stress on the bones to increase bone density.  Your muscles will increase in strength and will respond by increasing your range of activities.  Also, by increasing muscle mass, you increase the amount of energy that is required by your body at rest.  The more muscle that you have, the more energy your body will use to function on a daily basis meaning more fat and calories burned each minute.
